God’s sovereignty turns our human perspectives upside-down as we see that it is God who is free to do as he pleases, not mere humans. All the while, God’s sovereignty is a source of joy for Christians when they reflect upon the sovereignty of God displayed in the mercy of Jesus on the cross.

In Romans 9, the grand theme of God’s sovereignty is displayed so evidently. Even though to man, in the midst of uncertainty and pain, the Word of God appeared to have failed regarding Israel, God had another plan because he is always doing more than one thing.
